£20,000 raised at Community Matchday
Our men’s game against Brentford on 1 April was our official Community Matchday.
Albion fans once again showed their support for AITC by donating, visiting us at the Albion bus, and taking part in AITC activities all over the stadium.
Fans who visited the AITC bus were greeted by special guests Guy Butters and Norman Cook (better known as Fatboy Slim), as well as a number of people who have benefitted from AITC programmes.
In total, fans donated a fantastic £20,000 on the day. This money will go towards support our award-winning work all across Sussex.
We couldn’t have run the Community Matchday without the help of our kind partners and sponsors.
We’d like to thank our fans for all their support, as well as our friends at Piglet’s Pantry, Sodexo, Seagulls Travel, and Brighton & Hove Buses.
A special thanks goes to the Albion players for supporting the cause, Norman Cook for giving us his time, and to all of our amazing volunteers who helped on the day.
Ed Wills, Managing Director at Brighton & Hove Buses said: “We were delighted to have supported Saturday’s Community Matchday for Albion in the Community.
“Our striking Albion in the Community bus is a jewel in our crown and a popular fixture on the streets of Sussex, so to have it at the Amex being used as the hub for the charity was brilliant.”
Jo Hunter, owner and Managing Director of Piglets Pies, said: “We absolutely loved collaborating with Albion in the Community for their Community Matchday Takeover.
“Having Guy choose the two special Pies of the Month was so much fun, we know the fans would’ve enjoyed his choices.”
Mark Barkaway, head of marketing for AITC, said: “We’re so thankful for the ongoing generosity of Albion fans showing their support for the club both on and off the pitch. Their donations will make a big impact in the lives of so many families locally.”
With many families across Sussex struggling because of the cost of living crisis, we launched an appeal to help us continue to provide free and affordable football sessions.
Through our free Premier League Kicks sessions in deprived communities, our bursary to help families access our paid-for sessions, and a heavily subsidised disability football programme, we provide free or affordable football to thousands of people every year.
You can donate to our appeal here.
