Rotary club provides welcome support for Albion in the Community
A Rotary club donated £500 to Albion in the Community (AITC) to help provide young people with a disability with the chance to enjoy a fun football day.
Members of Lewes Castle Rotary Club made the generous donation to AITC, the area’s largest provider or football opportunities for people with a disability.
The money was used by AITC to support a holiday football club at the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre which was attended by more than 40 people.
And as well as providing the generous financial backing, 12 Lewes Castle Rotary Club members also volunteered at the event, working alongside AITC’s qualified coaches to make sure everyone had an enjoyable day.
According to Lewes Castle Rotary Club president, John Clark, the club’s members were only too happy to help.
He said: “Most people become Rotary members because they want to give something back to their local community and I know this is certainly true of my fellow Lewes Castle Rotarians.
“It was brilliant to see so many people enjoying themselves at the football day. Our members really appreciated the opportunity to see the sort of work our donation supports and to get an idea of the impact it can have on the people’s lives.
“The work AITC does across Sussex is amazing and it is great to be able to support such an amazing charity.”
Paul Brackley, AITC’s disability manager, thanked the Lewes Castle Rotary Club and its members for their generosity.
He said: “Many of our players simply would not have the chance to play football in a mainstream environment, so events like our holiday club are incredibly important – they give people the chance to get active, make new friends, and enjoy playing the sport they love. Our thanks go to all the members of Lewes Castle Rotary Club for their support.”
