AITC take on Chelsea in International Women’s Day celebrations

As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations last week, a group of women travelled to take on Chelsea in a special fixture.

A group of women from our women’s walking football programme were invited to take on a team representing the Chelsea Foundation.

Teams from the two charities faced off in a game of walking football, before both groups were invited onto the Kingsmeadow pitch at half time during the WSL match between the Albion and Chelsea Women’s first teams.

Our walking football sessions for women over 40 take place every week in Moulsecoomb. Walking football is a great way to meet people and stay active in a slightly more relaxed environment than conventional football.

Rosie Sadler, Health Manager at AITC, thought the event was a big success.

“The women who went up to Kingsmeadow all had an amazing time,” she told us.

“It was a lot of fun for everyone, and being able to walk out onto the pitch at half time was a special moment.

“Taking part in events like this benefits everyone. We want to grow the profile of walking football and get more women taking part, so it was really nice to be able to do that with Chelsea, especially around International Women’s Day.”
