AITC holds Christmas community event for Lancing locals
We were delighted to open our doors to around 100 local Lancing residents for a festive community event this week.
Local families were invited to visit the American Express Elite Football Performance Centre in Lancing yesterday evening (December 20) to meet the Albion in the Community team.
Our coaches ran football activities on the community pitch, while our health professionals, teachers, and further education tutors all had information stalls to explain the wide range of community programmes we offer for children, young people and families.
Around 50 youngsters played on the pitch and took part in fun football activities, including shooting drills and small-sided games.
Our coaches also gave the kids a taste of our work in schools and inclusive football; youngsters could try out what it’s like to play blind or amputee football, and try our Soccer STEM robots to learn more about coding.
Meanwhile parents were invited to meet the AITC team and learn more about what we do in their community – all while enjoying mince pies, teas and coffees, and delicious Piglets Pantry gingerbread reindeer!
Lynsey Hermann, Head of Community Programmes at AITC, was pleased to be able to welcome the local community to the training ground.
“It was wonderful to see so many Lancing residents come to this event and find out more about our work. It was great to see so many local parents and children enjoy their time with us and making use of the community pitch and facilities.
“Hopefully everyone that attended had a good time and enjoyed their visit to the training ground, and that they’ll go home feeling a little bit closer to the club and knowing more about what we do to support the community of Lancing.”
