Albion Memories supports Shoreham fans with dementia
A care home in Shoreham-by-Sea has been getting involved with our ‘Albion Memories’ programme which supports Albion fans with dementia.
Residents at Kingsland House care home in Shoreham were joined by a host of Albion legends including Guy Butters, Normal Gall, and former manager Alan Mullery.
Donna, the activities co-ordinator at the care home, noticed that there were a lot of Albion fans at the care home who could no longer visit the Amex Stadium, and were feeling isolated.
She found the Albion Memories programme and arranged a special event at Kingsland House, which residents found thoroughly enjoyable.
Resident, Derek, said: “We had an amazing time and are really looking forward to going back to make more friends and stay connected to our beloved team.”
Albion Memories sessions are held once a month to bring together Albion supporters living with dementia, to enable them to reminisce, chat, and be active.
“This is a really great programme and we hope to see as many people as possible joining the group,” said BHAFC Foundation Head of Community Programme, Lynsey Hermann.
“Football is a fantastic way of bringing people together to reminisce, which can be so important for people with dementia.
