Canary Cup success for Albion girls
Dozens of girls in the BHAFC Foundation talent pathway travelled to Norwich last week to take part in the Canary Cup.
The Canary Cup is an annual tournament that sees young players from across the country travel to The Nest in Norwich to represent their football clubs.
The BHAFC Foundation sent six teams of girls from Under-10s up to Under-16s to represent the club across two days of football.
One of the Albion Under-10s teams went on to win their tournament, beating Wolves 2-1 in a tightly-contested final.
The Albion Under-12s made it to the semi-final in their tournament, losing out to eventual winners Devon.
Nathan Casselton, Women and Girls Development Officer at the charity, was proud of how his teams performed.
“The girls did themselves proud, both individually and collectively, playing some fantastic football along the way,” he said.
“They represented the Foundation brilliantly by playing the Brighton way. They acquitted themselves fantastically on and off the pitch, which is credit to every single one of them.
“The whole coaching team is extremely proud of them and we can’t wait to enter the tournament again next year.
“Thanks again to the Norwich City CSF for having us and putting on another well-organised and competitive tournament, as they do every season.”
Earlier this year, Albion teams also celebrated success in the boys’ tournaments.
