Community Champions meet El Capitan
Some of our Community Champions were treated to an exclusive event at the Amex Stadium on Thursday (July 28).
Dozens of Community Champions – a group of people who donate £5 a month to support AITC – joined us for a pie and a drink at the Amex for the first ever Community Champions event.
The evening, hosted by Rich Reynolds, included a Q&A and interviews with Albion legends Bruno and Guy Butters.
Bruno and Guy talked about their long and successful Albion careers, and why they remained such strong supporters of the charity after they hung up their boots.
Martin Perry, Chair of the Board of Trustees at AITC and a big supporter of the Community Champions scheme, also appeared to talk about the work AITC do in communities across Sussex.
The evening was also a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the charity’s disability football programme; AITC Disability Manager Paul Brackley talked to the crowd about our work in disability football.
Community Champions were treated to an exclusive premiere showing of a short documentary about Cyril Thomas, a Brighton & Hove Albion Blind FC star who told us about his journey from civil war in Sierra Leone to the peak of blind football.
Martin Perry was pleased to welcome so many Community Champions to the very first event: “We’ve had a fantastic evening, it was great to see so many supporters of the charity all come together for an evening.
“The Community Champions programme really is brilliant, I’d implore any supporter of our work to sign up.”
