Fans meet Albion legends and raise £28k at Christmas lunch
Albion fans came out in force to meet a host of club legends at a special Christmas lunch to raise money for the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation last Friday (December 13).
Fans raised more than £28,000 through the event at the Amex Stadium, with hundreds of guests enjoying an afternoon of football, food, and festivities. The evening was supported by American Express, the charity’s title partner.
Guests were joined by some illustrious former Albion stars including legendary striker Bobby Zamora, Spanish defender Inigo Calderon, former captain Victoria Williams, and fan-favourite manager Steve Gritt.
Fans at the event were treated to a three-course meal, punctuated by Q&As with former players and coaches throughout the afternoon.
Zamora, Williams, and former manager Mark McGhee all took to the stage for a Q&A, where they were quizzed by fans about their time with the club.
There were more than a dozen legends in attendance, including: Iñigo Calderón, Bobby Zamora, Victoria Williams, Alan Mullery MBE, Steve Gritt, Guy Butters, Kerry Mayo, John Byrne, Andy Rollings, Mark McGhee, Ian Chapman, Adam El-Abd, Michel Kuipers, and Dani Bowman.
As well as enjoying the dinner, fans also had the chance to snap up some exclusive Albion memorabilia through a raffle and a silent auction.
Lauren Ellis, Fundraising Manager at the BHAFC Foundation, was grateful for all the support.
“We’re so grateful to every legend who helped us make this event a real success. Thank you all for giving up your time to help support a great cause.
“Albion fans once again showed a fantastic amount of support for this event, and we were delighted to welcome so many of them to this Christmas lunch.
“This event has raised an amazing sum for the Foundation, which will mean we can carry on changing thousands of lives across Sussex each and every day.”
