Festive fundraising raises over £40k for Foundation
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and sponsors, we have raised more than £40,000 this December to help support our life-changing work across Sussex.
Our festive fundraising initiatives have included a Christmas bauble auction, the sale of Albion memorabilia, and a Christmas lunch at the Amex Stadium.
December kicked off with the launch of our bauble auction on the 1st – 50 baubles signed by the men’s and women’s first teams (plus DJ Fatboy Slim) were auctioned off over the first 12 days of the month.
The bauble auction once again proved very popular, raising a total sum of £6350. Fatboy Slim’s signed bauble fetched the highest sum of them all, selling for more than £500.
We were also able to auction off an Albion Europa League shirt from our historic win over AEK Athens, signed by the men’s first team, as well as a commemorative scarf; this sold for £3,100.
On December 15, we welcomed nearly 300 fans to the Mayo Wynne Baxter lounge at the Amex for a very special lunch.
Our Christmas lunch with Albion legends saw around 20 greats from Albion’s past come for an afternoon of good food, fundraising, and reminiscing about the glory days.
Legends at the event included Alan Mullery, Glenn Murray, Inigo Calderon, Dani Bowman, and many more alongside who were interviewed live by Rich Reynolds.
Ticket sales from the event – as well as a raffle, a silent auction, and a live auction hosted by Ian Hart – meant the event raised a huge £31,200.
Lauren Ellis, Fundraising Manager at the Foundation, is full of gratitude for the all the support the charity has received.
“I’ve been blown away by the way people have got behind the Foundation this Christmas,” she said.
“To our generous sponsors, everyone who kindly donated items for our auctions, our hard-working staff who have gone above and beyond, all of the many legends who gave up their time to help us raise money, and of course to our fans, I give a massive, massive thank you.
“All of this money will directly go towards changing lives in Sussex. If you’ve donated or supported us this Christmas, you can feel proud to be a part of that.”
