Foundation girls win gold in Canary Cup
Girls in our Talent Pathway programme enjoyed another entertaining Canary Cup tournament in Norwich.
Girls from four age groups – Under-10s, Under-12s, Under-14s, and Under-16s – travelled to East Anglia for two days of football fun earlier this week.
The teams travelled to The Nest, the home of the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, where they faced off against other teams from across the country.
Teams were sent to represent clubs including Brentford, Birmingham City, Norwich City, and Oxford United.
All of the girls put in great performances, with the Under-10s going on to win their tournament and take home the trophy.
Our Under-12s were also very successful, earning runners-up trophies after finishing in second place.
Mark Pedrick, Football Participation manager at the Foundation, enjoyed another successful Canary Cup.
“We really enjoyed this Canary Cup, as we always do,” he said.
“The girls all had a great time representing their club, and they all put in so much effort and determination.
“The Under-10s went on to win their tournament, which was an amazing achievement and testament to the amount of quality players we have on our Talent Pathway at the Foundation.
“I’m very proud of them all. Thank you to Norwich for once again putting on a brilliant Canary Cup.”
This programme is supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association Community Fund.
