Hayley Templeman recognised with Community Captain award
Disability Development Officer Hayley Templeman has been nominated as the BHAFC Foundation’s Community Captain.
Hayley’s honour comes as part of the Premier League’s ‘More Than a Game’ campaign, which is raising awareness about the massive community impact that football has across England.
The award was presented to Hayley at by club Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman Paul Barber, alongside Albion star Adam Lallana at the Amex Stadium.
Hayley has worked at the BHAFC Foundation for nearly 12 years, joining the charity in 2012. She has an association with the club going back even further; Hayley used to play for the Albion women’s first team during her career as a footballer.
As a Disability Development Officer for the Foundation, Hayley helps schools by delivering PE sessions, sports programmes, and PSHE lessons.
Hayley works closely with a number of Special Educational Needs schools across Sussex to help bring disability football to their pupils.
She is an LGBTQ+ role model within the charity, championing inclusion and delivering workshops to local kids about homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia.
Hayley was delighted to receive the award: “It’s a really big honour to be named as the Foundation’s Community Champion.
“The work we do in schools all over Sussex genuinely makes a massive impact on thousands of kids every year. It’s so important, and I’m glad that’s being recognised here.
“I’d like to say thank you for this award, and I hope that we continue our good work for years to come.”
The ‘More Than A Game’ campaign – which will be visible at matches between 17th and 26th February – aims to showcase the Premier League’s world-leading investment into all levels of football and funding for club community programmes positively impact the lives of millions.
