Horsham MP visits disability group

Several Horsham politicians came to see the impact of an inclusive disability football session run by the BHAFC Foundation.

John Milne, MP for Horsham, visited the session alongside Holbrook councillors Nigel Emery and Nick Grant.

The trio visited to see firsthand an example of the community work that the BHAFC Foundation does in Horsham

Foundation coaches run inclusive sessions on Saturdays at the Holbrook Club, giving children in Horsham a space to play football in an inclusive environment with trained coaches.

The charity has a large footprint in Horsham beyond the Holbrook Club inclusive group.

The Foundation also supports several Horsham schools, as well as providing holiday football camps and coaching young players in its talent pathway programme.

John Milne MP said: “It was wonderful to see the fantastic work the BHAFC Foundation is doing in Horsham firsthand.

“These sessions are making a real difference to people in our community, giving them the chance to play football in a welcoming and supportive environment.

“I’m grateful to the whole team for their work in making the sport more accessible.”

Mark Barkaway, Head of Marketing & Income Generation at the BHAFC Foundation, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome John, Nick, and Nigel to our inclusive session.

“Horsham is a town that we do a great deal of work in, so this was a great opportunity for us to showcase the impact that our coaches and tutors are having every week across the town.”

The BHAFC Foundation’s disability football programme is supported by the Premier League and PFA Players’ Fund, which supports clubs across England and Wales to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges.
