Mum to abseil i360 in memory of her son

Mum to abseil i360 in memory of her son

A West Sussex mum is abseiling down the Brighton i360 to raise money for charity five years on from her son’s death.

Michelle Tipper, from Handcross, is marking the fifth anniversary of the death of her son Connor Price, who died at the age of 18 after complications with type 1 diabetes.

Connor was a “truly passionate” aspiring football coach, and was part of the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation’s Further Education programme.

After Connor’s death in April 2019, Michelle decided to raise money for the BHAFC Foundation in his memory.

“When he passed it, only felt right to raise money for the Foundation,” she said.

“We wanted to raise money for something that was close to Connor, and we wanted to raise money for something that was making a difference locally, and the Foundation was perfect.

“We also wanted to raise money for them because they put Connor through two years of studying, so we wanted to give something back.”

Since 2019 Michelle has raised tens of thousands of pounds for the BHAFC Foundation by hosting fundraising events, selling raffle tickets, running in the BM10K, and now with a charity abseil.

Michelle will be abseiling the Brighton i360 on 15 June, shortly after the fifth anniversary of Connor’s death and 2 weeks before what would have been his 24th birthday.
