Seagulls’ Festive Fun Run raises more than £3,000
Almost 300 people helped raise £3,000 for Albion in the Community (AITC) by running 2k around the American Express Community Stadium.
AITC’s Seagulls’ Festive Fun Run was attended by 270 people – more than double the number that attended last year’s event.
Runners of all ages took part in the fundraiser, which started with a warm-up inside the stadium led by Gully, the club’s mascot.
Every finisher was rewarded with a seasonal Seagulls medal and a mince pie, while each child was also given a limited edition festive-themed Brighton & Hove Albion scarf.
The money raised from the fun run will now help fund AITC’s award-winning work in the local area, which includes more than 30 regular football sessions for people with a disability.
Emma Brockhurst, who organised the Seagulls’ Festive Fun Run for AITC, was delighted with how the event had gone.
She said: “This is the third year we have held a seasonal fun run at the stadium and every year the number of people taking part has gone up. To have twice as many people join in as last year was amazing and this year’s run was definitely the best yet.
“Everyone had a great time and it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying themselves and getting into the festive spirit.
“The money we raised at the run will make a real difference to the people we work with and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part. We’re already looking forward to welcoming them back to the stadium for our 2019 Seagulls’ Festive Fun Run!”
