Successful Albion Golf Day raises more than £50,000 for AITC
More than 70 people enjoyed another successful Brighton & Hove Albion golf day yesterday, raising a tremendous amount for AITC in the process.
Mannings Heath, a stunning 500-acre estate near Horsham, played host to the golf day. In total, the event raised more than £50,000 to support our life-changing work.
The golfers took on an 18-hole course at Mannings Heath, joined by Albion legends including Glenn Murray, Adam Virgo, Martin Perry, and Guy Butters.
As in previous years, the event was once again generously sponsored by Linda and Tony Bloom.
Russell Wood, Head of Commercial at the club, said: “We’re always happy to be able to support AITC in any way we can.
“This has been another very successful golf day, and the money raised will definitely make a huge difference in our local community.”
Our disability football programme was a key focus at the golf day. All the money raised through ticket sales, the charitable auction, and other donations from the golf day will help directly support disability football in Sussex.
People in attendance were shown first-hand the impact their support can have; they were introduced to Chase, a 14-year-old with cerebral palsy who plays in our inclusive disability football sessions. Chase told them his inspiring story, of how he found AITC as a youngster after struggling to find a team where he could fit in.
The golfers also met one of Chase’s coaches, Dan. Dan has been coaching in our disability football programme for more than eight years, and he also plays for our amputee football team.
Matt Dorn, CEO at Albion in the Community, was grateful for the support on show. “We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the golf day, to all the sponsors who helped make it happen, and to the club for organising such a brilliant day.
“The funds raised at this event will go a long way in helping us change lives all over Sussex.”
The money raised from the golf day can fund over 2,100 disability football sessions, allowing 820 people to play weekly inclusive football sessions for a whole year.
AITC’s first disability football session was held 26 years ago in 1997, providing inclusive football opportunities for thousands of people in that time.
