Tanya Clubb: AITC’s Star Baker
Tanya Clubb has been baking cakes for more than a decade.
She combines her two great loves – baking and the Albion – to help make a real difference to people in Sussex.
Tanya has helped Albion in the Community for years by baking cakes for the charity to sell, helping raise vital funds for AITC.
“Whenever there’s anything going on around the charity I’m always keen to get involved and start baking,” Tanya told us.
Tanya’s support doesn’t just extend to cakes, however; she and all of her family are season-ticket holders at the Amex and they rarely miss a match.
As well as baking cakes to be sold, Tanya also bakes large centrepiece cakes to be used at club events.
Tanya, who lives in Goring, has made cakes depicting iconic Albion sites like the Amex Stadium and the Elite Performance Centre in Lancing.
She first got involved with the Albion around eight years ago, after one of her cakes became a big hit on social media.
“My husband was due to come to the Amex to watch an FA Cup game against Port Vale in 2014,” Tanya said, “but it ended up being an away game so he couldn’t go.
“Somebody said to me ‘why don’t you bake him the stadium instead?’ so I decided to bake him a cake that looked like the Amex – I suppose that was the next best thing!
“The cake got posted on Facebook and it all blew up from there.”
The club spotted Tanya’s cake and asked if she would consider baking some to raise money for Albion in the Community. Almost a decade later, Tanya still hasn’t retired her oven gloves.
My cakes are just a little thing that I can give back and support Albion in the Community with the fantastic work they do.
Alongside baking for AITC she also sells cakes to the public, with a percentage of the profits from every cake Tanya bakes with the BHAFC crest going to Albion in the Community.
Tanya says she is proud to help the club and is full of praise for the work that Albion in the Community does.
“I have a cousin who has Down’s syndrome so I know what it’s like to have a family member with a disability,” Tanya explained.
“When I left school I started working in a care home for people with learning and physical disabilities. It’s always been something I’ve been passionate about, so as soon as the opportunity to help AITC came up it was a no brainer.
“My cakes are just a little thing that I can give back and support Albion in the Community with the fantastic work they do.”
