Kirby and Veltman visit girls at Davison
Two Albion stars visited young footballers at a Worthing girls’ school earlier this week.
Fran Kirby and Joel Veltman came to meet girls at Davison CE Girls School, a school which has a burgeoning girls’ football programme.
Davison has recently celebrated the opening of a brand new 3G football pitch – a move they hope will encourage even more girls to lace up their boots.
BHAFC Foundation coaches have worked in Davison for almost a decade, delivering after-school clubs and PE lessons.
Joel and Fran had a Q&A session with the girls to answer all of their burning questions, before Joel joined in with one of their shooting drills.
The moment was captured by Match of the Day’s production team, who came down to Worthing to make a film about the growth of girls football in the area.
Nathan Casselton, Women and Girls Development Officer at the Foundation, has been delighted to see how many girls at Davison have taken up football.
“We’ve been working here for a number of years now, and in that time I’ve seen a hug growth in the number of girls taking an interest in our sessions,” he said.
“Especially with the interest in the Lionesses and the WSL in recent years, we’ve had so many more girls want to try football out for the first time and most of them have loved it.
“The girls have all loved meeting Fran and Joel today, and we can’t wait to see the film go out on Match of the Day this weekend.”
