Worthing youngsters recognised with Top Bins awards

Five young people have been presented with leadership awards as part of the Premier League Kicks programme.

Premier League Kicks provides free football sessions, mentoring, and training to children in areas of high need. In the past year, 1,600 local children have joined us at a Premier League Kicks session.

Older children can also take part in the Top Bins scheme, which gives them a series of targets to work towards and encourages them to be leadership figures for the younger children.

Albion stars were on hand to present awards to five young people from Worthing who have earned qualifications through Top Bins.

Alfie, Jayden, Joshua, and Aston from the Worthing Premier League Kicks group were recognised by their coaches as having made excellent progress in the Top Bins scheme.

Carlos Baleba and Jan Paul Van Hecke met the four boys at the club training ground in Lancing to hand them their medals and certificates.

Meanwhile Fran Kirby met young Edie during a visit to Davison Girls School to deliver her certificate.

Lynsey Hermann, Head of Community Programmes at the BHAFC Foundation, said: “These five young people have been shining examples of what we’re looking for from a Top Bins participant.

“They’ve all stepped up to become mentorship figures to the younger children at Premier League Kicks, and it’s only right that they’ve been recognised for their progress.

“I’m sure meeting an Albion player is a moment none of them will ever forget, and hopefully that inspires them to keep on making strides on and off the pitch.”

Thanks to the programme, children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to quality coaching are given a chance to play football with good equipment in a safe, structured environment.
