Foundation named Best Football Community Scheme
The BHAFC Foundation has been honoured at the Football Business Awards (FBAs) once again.
We were awarded the prize of Best Football Community Scheme (Premier League and Championship) at the awards ceremony last Friday.
The Foundation was also a nominee for the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion award alongside the Albion.
This year’s ceremony marked the tenth year in a row that we were shortlisted at the FBAs – one of football’s most celebrated awards ceremonies – and the seventh year in that time we won an award.
The judges said they were impressed with the entry and commented that it was an innovative and meaningful scheme from Brighton & Hove Albion, in partnership with Sussex Police to target youth crime.
Matt Dorn, CEO at the BHAFC Foundation, was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the charity.
“We’re all over the moon to have won this award, everyone at the Foundation has worked so hard over the past 12 months and this is a real testament to that hard work and the strategic partnerships we hold with Sussex Police and the Premier League Charitable Fund.
“All of our coaches, tutors, support staff, and everyone involved with the Foundation should feel incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.
“We’re delighted to have won, but we’re also really pleased that this was the tenth year in a row that we were nominated for an award. That consistency, being at our best year after year, is what really allows us to change lives across Sussex.”
For the Best Football Community Scheme award, we were part of a shortlist including the community schemes of Aston Villa, Liverpool, Burnley, Southampton, and Bournemouth.
