AITC gives academy girls cooking masterclass
Girls at Brighton and Hove Albion’s Regional Talent Club have been learning hands-on about the benefits of healthy nutrition.
Albion in the Community’s nutritionist, Mari Clark, visited the under-16 Regional Talent Club (RTC) girls to teach them cooking skills and share the benefits of eating healthily.
The sessions are designed to teach players about overall healthy wellbeing, as well as how proper nutrition can optimise performance and recovery for elite football players.
The academy girls attended a session at the American Express Elite Performance Centre in Lancing, where they got stuck in and tried their hand at cooking a healthy dish containing noodles, vegetables, and seeds.
This activity gave players the chance to try new foods which they would then have the confidence to make at home themselves.
The players also learned about the benefits of getting the right amount of carbohydrates and protein into their diets.
AITC regularly hold nutrition sessions for players in the RTC over Zoom, but this event gave the girls the chance to get involved in a hands-on environment.

“Nutritional education is hugely important for young players and it’s great that Mari has been able to deliver her sessions in such an interactive way, no doubt supporting the girls with their continued development within the academy.”
