Success for Albion pan-disability team at Premier League tournament in Chelsea
A team of players from across our disability football programme took part in a special Premier League disability football tournament last weekend.
The tournament, held by the Premier League and hosted by the Chelsea FC Foundation, saw clubs from across the south send pan-disability teams to compete in the tournament.
The Albion team travelled up to Chelsea FC’s Cobham training ground last Saturday, where they played a round of qualifying matches in the morning before being placed in an Under-16s tournament in the afternoon.
The side won all of their games in the tournament; beating Brentford and Crystal Palace before winning against Arsenal in their final to lift the trophy.
Phil Broom, who leads disability football at Albion in the Community, says that the tournament was an amazing experience for his young players.
“Getting to come up to Cobham and take part in this tournament was special for them,” Phil said.
“They all had a great time, and having that competitive element is really beneficial for their development.
“Thank you to the Premier League and the Chelsea FC Foundation for hosting a fantastic day.”
This programme is supported by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association Community Fund.
