Fundraising success as AITC raise over £30,000 during flagship campaign

We’ve been hard at work raising vital funds over the last six weeks.

Our flagship Blue and White Month campaign began in April, starting with our Community Matchday fixture against Brentford on 1 April and ending with our WSL fixture against West Ham on 7 May.

This year, our fundraising efforts were focused on helping families through the cost of living crisis.

Thanks to donations on both matchdays, income from charity auctions, and kind donations over the course of the month, we managed to raise more than £30,000 in total.

Our Cost of Living Appeal began in late March, highlighting how much of a lifeline our free Premier League Kicks sessions have been for mum-of-four Susan in Moulsecoomb.

A few days later, Susan’s family were one of many special guests to help us spread the word at our Premier League fixture against Brentford at the Amex.

With the help of a team of volunteers, Albion legend Guy Butters, and Brighton DJ Fatboy Slim, we had a very successful Community Matchday at the Brentford game.

Lots of money was raised for the charity, the players warmed up in special AITC tees, kids had the chance to take part in activities all over the stadium, and exclusive Albion memorabilia was auctioned off across the stadium.

On 7 May we had our second Community Matchday, this time at Broadfield Stadium for our WSL game against West Ham, where we again raised a lot of money and spread the word about our life-changing work.

Mark Barkaway, who heads up fundraising at AITC, says the support we’ve received in recent weeks has been phenomenal.

“I’d like to thank all of our supporters, sponsors, and partners who have helped make our fundraising campaign such a success.

“£30,000 is an amazing figure, and one which will help us change so many lives all over Sussex.”

Our fundraising work isn’t over yet – we have two more major events taking place later this month.

Thursday 18 May marks our annual golf day, one of the biggest days in our fundraising calendar.

A day later, we are hosting a special celebration dinner marking the 40th anniversary of our famous run to the 1983 FA Cup Final.

Thanks to our efforts this spring, we have now had more than 300 people sign up to become a Community Champion.

Community Champions are a group of supporters who commit to a monthly donation, allowing us to guarantee we can deliver our programmes to the people who need them most.
