High Sheriff visits Premier League Kicks session in Eastbourne
The High Sheriff of East Sussex was given a taste of our life-changing work when he visited a Premier League Kicks session in Eastbourne last week.
Premier League Kicks (funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund) is a programme providing free football sessions to children in some of the country’s most deprived neighbourhoods.
We run PL Kicks sessions across Sussex, providing free football for hundreds of children every single week.
As part of his work promoting community organisations and tackling youth violence, High Sheriff Richard Bickersteth came to visit our Eastbourne group.
He met with some of our hard-working coaches and spoke to the children about their experiences in PL Kicks.
Through PL Kicks, we are able to help young people get fit, make friends, and develop personal skills in a positive environment.
As part of PL Kicks, we also offer the ‘Top Bins’ mentorship scheme, which teaches the older children important leadership skills and allows them to help run the sessions.
Martin Schooley, Head of Inclusion at the BHAFC Foundation, spoke about the impact that PL Kicks has in local communities.
“Premier League Kicks is a fantastic programme, and we’re proud to deliver it to hundreds of local kids.
“By providing free football and mentorship we are making a real difference in communities all over Sussex.
“It was great to welcome the High Sheriff down to see one of our sessions, so he could get a feel for the amazing work we’re doing every week.”
