Matt and Jacob memorial game raises over £2k
This year’s annual charity football game in memory of Matt Grimstone and Jacob Schilt has raised well over £2,000.
Every year a charity match takes place in honour of Matt and Jacob, who lost their lives in the Shoreham air disaster in 2015.
Two matches took place – Worthing United vs Mile Oak first, followed by a friends and family match.
Other fundraising efforts included a raffle, a cake sale, and a silent auction, raising a fantastic total sum of £2,190 to support the Foundation’s life changing work.
Friends and loved ones held a minute of silence before kicking off a day of football at Culver Road in Lancing last week.
Albion legend Guy Butters attended the game on behalf of the Foundation, handing out the winners’ trophies at the end of the game.
Matt Dorn, BHAFC Foundation CEO, said it was heartening to see such great support for the charity.
“Yet again people have given so generously at Matt and Jacob’s memorial game, and as ever we’re so grateful for all the support,” he said.
“They will always be part of the Albion family and I’m really glad their memory continues to be honoured with such a great occasion every year.”
