PL Inspires helps Noor grow in confidence

A Year 7 pupil at BACA was rewarded for his kindness and positive attitude at school.

Noor, who is part of the BHAFC Foundation’s Premier League Inspires group at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA), has impressed his teachers and classmates with how much his confidence has grown and how well his English has developed.

Noor moved to England from Afghanistan, and has shown great resilience and a real improvement in his English.

He was presented with a voucher in recognition of his efforts, which was kindly donated by club sponsor and Foundation supporter Snickers UK as part of their Albion Gifts initiative to reward deserving young people in Sussex.

Wendy Nunn, Assistant Principal for Behaviour and Culture at BACA, has been very impressed with the development Noor has shown.

“I’m delighted that Noor was chosen to be part of the Premier League Inspires programme with the Brighton and Hove Albion Foundation,” she said, “When Noor joined BACA he came here with no friends he knew from primary school and had to really grow his confidence and his socialising skills.

“He’s worked on that massively throughout the programme, it’s given him a lot of confidence. I’ve seen Noor taking part in Inspires sessions and he’s been laughing, playing games, happy, and every session Noor has been there on time, waiting, so excited to take part.”

Premier League Inspires is an education programme which targets young people aged 11-18 who could be at risk of not reaching their potential. PL Inspires supports these pupils by helping them develop the personal skills and positive attitudes they need to succeed in life.

“It’s really helped Noor to grow at BACA and helped his confidence in the classroom,” Wendy said, “Going into Year 8, I think Noor would agree that Inspires will really help with the transition to Year 8 with new friends, new classes, and new teachers.

“He’s really striving forward, he’s doing amazing.”

Noor has enjoyed his time in the PL Inspires programme, and his tutors at the Foundation say he’s shown a lot of determination and resilience.

“I’ve learned more of the language here and I’ve made lots of friends,” Noor said, “I’m really happy in this school.”
