How we work with the Premier League

The BHAFC Foundation works closely with the Premier League to support young people across Sussex.

We deliver a number of programmes created by the Premier League, including:

  • Premier League Kicks
  • Premier League Primary Stars
  • Premier League Inspires

In addition, we are supported by the Premier League Charitable Fund in several areas of our work.

Premier League Kicks

Premier League Kicks supports young people aged seven to 18 years old with the opportunity to play free weekly football and engage in personal development opportunities.

Weekly sessions take place in community venues across Sussex where football activity is provided in a safe and supervised environment alongside:

  • Young people’s leadership programme.
  • Social action projects.
  • Mentoring support.
  • Lifestyle guidance to help young people make positive life choices.

Premier League Primary Stars

We provide schools with high-quality support and activity to inspire younger pupils.

Our Primary Stars sports mentors deliver high quality interventions targeted at whole classes, small groups and individuals which aim to:

  • Improve children’s physical literacy.
  • Improve teachers’ confidence in delivering PE.
  • Increase children’s confidence, communication skills, and resilience.

Premier League Inspires

Using the appeal of the Premier League, we provide schools with high-quality support and activity to encourage pupils’ aspirations and skills.

Our Premier League Inspires programme uses professional football clubs’ business models to:

  • Inspire young people to engage positively in education.
  • Develop important life skills.
  • Raise awareness of the world of work.

Premier League Charitable Fund

The PLCF supports the Foundation’s existing delivery work, allowing us to commit more resources to supporting young people in under-served communities.

  • Girls’ Football Pathway – We provide opportunities for hundreds of girls to access organised football sessions with qualified coaches. For talented young players, we also have a Football Pathway programme which encourages and develops girls through their football journey.
  • Gully’s Health Squad – A programme that encourages healthy living and proper nutrition in primary-age pupils, especially for children who live in high-need neighbourhoods. The Foundation’s qualified nutritionist teaches pupils about how to prepare simple healthy dishes through fun workshops and interactive games.
  • Disability Football – We are one of the largest providers of disability football in England, with around 350 people signed up to our disability football membership programme. Our specialised coaches deliver both inclusive and disability-specific sessions for a wide range of needs.
