Williams and Veltman named AITC ambassadors for 2022/23

Williams and Veltman named AITC ambassadors for 2022/23

Victoria Williams and Joel Veltman have been named as Albion in the Community’s ambassadors for the 2022/23 season.

The two defenders were unveiled as ambassadors in their first official appearance of the season; a Premier League Kicks session in Moulsecoomb.

The pair came to visit kids at the Premier League Kicks session, helping to coach different football drills and posing for photos with the young participants.

Victoria takes up the role of ambassador for the third season in a row, while Joel celebrates his first season representing AITC.

As the captain of Hope Powell’s WSL side, Victoria is used to taking on a leadership role. She hopes that her work as ambassador can help inspire girls in the local area.

She told us: “It’s brilliant, these programmes are so important just to give everyone a chance to have a kick-about and make new friends.

“I always say that’s one of the best things to come out of football, the connections that you make. These kids are getting skills for life here.”

Joel is very excited to be starting his new role, and he told us how important he thinks programmes like Premier League Kicks can be for kids in the local community.

Joel has already been involved with AITC earlier this year, coming along to a disability football camp to hand out free Albion kit and sign shirts alongside Moises Caicedo and Jeremy Sarmiento.

“It’s my first event and I love it, I think it’s really important for kids after school,” Joel said, “instead of being on the streets or somewhere else, they’re playing on the pitch.

“I remember when I was this age football was the only thing I wanted to do. A football was the only thing we had, and the most important thing we had.”

CEO Matt Dorn is pleased to have the two Albion stars on board for the season.

“We’re delighted to be able to confirm Joel and Victoria as our ambassadors for the year. They are fantastic footballers and amazing individuals, and I’ve no doubt they’ll have a massive impact on people in our local communities.

“It makes such a big difference to have huge stars like them visit people out and about in Sussex. The star power of the Premier League and WSL is a really important tool in the work we do here, and I can’t wait to see what they get up to this season.”
