Youngsters enjoy fun games and healthy food at holiday camp
Gully’s Holiday Activity Camp celebrated a successful launch this Christmas holiday.
The programme launched in Brighton this December as an alternative to our more football-based holiday activities.
Aimed at children aged 7-11 years old, Gully’s Holiday Activity Camp encourages kids towards a healthy lifestyle by making it fun and entertaining for younger children.
The first holiday camp sessions took place at Brighton Aldridge Community Academy for youngsters in Brighton and Hove.
Sessions began with a healthy breakfast before moving into fun physical activities using hoops, cones, and balls.
In the afternoon children took part in healthy eating workshops, where they were taught how to make various healthy dishes from scratch to eat for lunch.
Gully’s Holiday Activity Camp runs during school holidays and half-terms, and will be returning in the early months of 2023.
Rosie Sadler, Health Manager at AITC, was pleased to see the programme launch.
“It was great to see the kids having such a good time at Gully’s Holiday Activity Camp,” Rosie told us.
“The kids spent the day running about and eating healthy food – habits we hope they’ll keep for a lifetime.
“They all went home with a big smile on their face, which is exactly what we want to see.”
The programme launched this Christmas after the success of Gully’s Health Squad, which promotes healthy living to school children all over Sussex during term-time.
Gully’s Health Squad is an AITC initiative which sees our health professionals and nutritionists work with a school for a term to help promote a message of healthy living.
Pupils take part in fun and educational activities, learn more about healthy eating and how to prepare nutritious food, and work through a curriculum designed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle.
Albion mascot Gully also makes a few appearances over the course of the term, meeting the pupils and giving them an experience they’ll never forget.
