Kick off your year with AITC’s Smart Start to 2023

Kick off your year with AITC’s Smart Start to 2023

This January we’ll be highlighting plenty of different ways we can help your health and wellbeing in 2023.

January is a time for dusting off the cobwebs, making resolutions, and forgetting just how many pigs in blankets were on your plate over Christmas.

Here at AITC, one of our missions is to help people in Sussex improve their wellbeing and lead healthy lifestyles.

We also offer plenty of educational courses to help both children and adults reach their full potential and learn new skills.

From teaching primary school children about fruit and veg to helping adults shift some unwanted weight, there are loads of different ways we can help you start 2023 the right way.

Run for AITC in 2023

Running is a great way to build your fitness and improve your overall health, and in Brighton we’re lucky to have plenty of big running events on our doorstep.

Committing to run in an event like the BM10K or the Brighton Marathon is a fantastic way to make sure you stay motivated. Why not sign up to fundraise for us and achieve something special this spring?

Free maths courses for adults

As part of our work to help people develop skills and meet their potential, we’re helping dozens of people with free courses and qualifications.

Our free maths courses can help you boost your skills and improve your chances of getting a better job, as you learn maths skills through our fun, football-themed lessons.

This winter our team launched two free new courses in West Sussex for adults with low numeracy skills; giving them the tools and confidence to help their young children with their homework.

We have numeracy courses in Bognor Regis, Brighton, and Littlehampton – book your spot here.

Supporting men’s mental health through football

We support men’s mental health all over Sussex by getting them out on a football pitch, and opening up to each other off the pitch.

More Than Football is a free programme that supports men aged 30 to 50 years old with their mental health by connecting them to like minded people through regular football sessions.

The sessions provide an opportunity for physical exercise and to build friendships with a facilitated half time and cool-down chat that focus on making men feel comfortable about talking about their lives.

Sessions are supported by people who have lived-experience of mental health challenges and aim to help men to build their networks of support and self-care in an environment they feel comfortable. Find out more here.

Mini Kickers is the perfect way to introduce your child to football – our coaches run fun activities that uses play through football to teach fundamental skills such as balance, agility and coordination.

Sessions are suitable for any child aged between four and six years old – find out more here.

Teaching kids PE and STEM the Albion way

Our tutors work in dozens of schools all over Sussex, delivering a variety of different lessons to primary and secondary school students.

By using the power of the Albion badge, we can capture kids’ imagination and help make a real, lasting impact on students’ education.

From getting kids active in PE sessions to teaching them maths in our Soccer STEM lessons, we support learning wherever and and whenever we can.

We also run after-school clubs at a number of Sussex schools – book here.

Helping you lose weight this winter

This winter we’re bringing back our popular Kick Off The Weight programme, helping people in Sussex to lose weight and improve their wellbeing.

Sessions include expert advice on a range of topics, fun gentle group exercise for all abilities, and support to help you reach your goals.

Providing football opportunities for people with a disability

As one of the biggest providers of disability football in the south, we help hundreds of people with a disability to play the beautiful game.

We run fun, inclusive sessions for people with a range of disabilities who want to get active and make friends.

We also have a disability talent pathway for those with a serious interest in playing at a high level; our most talented players can represent the Albion in one of our four national league teams (Powerchair, amputee, cerebral palsy, and blind teams).

Find out more about our disability membership here.

Healthy living for people with cancer

Exercise and healthy living can make a big difference for people before and after cancer treatment.

Brighter Outlook, a health and wellbeing programme for people with a cancer diagnosis, provides people with free, personalised fitness sessions and advice for 10 weeks.

The programme runs in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, and West Sussex – every year we support around 300 people with cancer diagnoses, delivering more than 400 classes along the way.

Getting kids playing the Albion way over the holidays

Through Brighton & Hove Albion Soccer Schools, we are able to help thousands of kids every year to get active and learn to play football the Albion way.

Our structured sessions help kids to learn the fundamentals of football and help them fall in love with the game for life.
