£31k raised as hundreds enjoy Christmas event with Albion legends

The Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation raised more than £31,200 at a special Christmas event for Albion fans on Friday (December 15).

The BHAFC Foundation hosted a Christmas lunch at the Amex Stadium, with hundreds of Albion fans joining them for an afternoon of football, food, and festivities.

Fans were joined by a host of Albion legends from days gone by; club 2nd-highest goalscorer Glenn Murray, legendary manager Alan Mullery, and world-famous DJ (and Albion fan) Fatboy Slim.

Guests at the event were treated to a three-course meal, punctuated by Q&As with former players and coaches throughout the afternoon.

It gave the former Albion stars a chance to reflect on how far the club has come since the days of the Goldstone and the Withdean, with the Albion now preparing for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

There were almost two dozen legends in attendance, including: Inigo Calderon, Dani Bowman, Kerry Mayo, Martin and Adam Hinshelwood, George Parris, Martin Perry, Steve Foster, Ian Chapman, Gary Chivers, Derek Chapman, John Keeley, John Byrne, and Dean Wilkins.

As well as their dinner, fans also had the chance to snap up some exclusive Albion memorabilia through a raffle and a silent auction.

Lauren Ellis, Fundraising Manager at the Foundation, was grateful for all the support.

“I’d like to give a massive thank you to all the legends who gave their time to be here today. They all helped make the event truly special.

“I’m glad that so many fans wanted to join us for Christmas lunch, and everyone really got into the festive spirit. Thank you to all the Albion supporters who came – I hope you had a great time.

“This event has raised an amazing sum for the Foundation, which will mean we can carry on changing thousands of lives across Sussex each and every day.”
