Female disability participants surprised with free boots and Albion kit
Women and girls involved in Albion in the Community’s (AITC) disability programme were given free football boots and jerseys.
As part of the UEFA Women’s Euros 2022 legacy project, AITC is working to inspire more women and girls with a disability to get involved in football.
AITC launched a scheme to provide any woman or girl aged 16+ signing up to the charity’s disability membership programme with a free pair of Nike boots and an AITC or Brighton & Hove Albion FC shirt, giving new participants everything they need to get started.
In April, AITC held an inclusive session with some of our disability programme members, who were all given free boots and Albion jerseys.
With Europe’s biggest women’s football competition coming to Brighton & Hove, 2022 is an ideal time to engage more women and girls by using the power of football. AITC is committed to breaking down barriers that might put off women and girls who want to give football a go.
Justine Thomson, AITC’s Women’s Recreational Football Officer, said: “Engaging women and girls in football provides so many benefits: getting fit, meeting new people, developing new skills and creating new leaders.
“We want women and girls to step over the side-line, whether that’s participating, coaching, or refereeing.”
