An American Express (Amex) colleague awards event has raised more than £27,000 for the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation at American Express’ annual Travel & Lifestyle Services Community Awards.

This event recognises and celebrates the outstanding work and contributions that Amex colleagues make.

Funds were raised through ticket sales, sponsorship from partners, auctions and a raffle drawn on the evening of the event.

American Express has supported the Foundation at this annual awards event for approximately 11 years, raising more than £100,000 for the charity.

Head of Marketing and Income Generation for the Foundation Mark Barkaway, who attended the event, praised  the support received: “The partnership we have with American Express is very important for the Foundation,” he said.

“Their continued backing for our work through both fundraising and volunteering is an amazing testament to the commitment Amex have to their community and makes a significant impact locally.

“Working together we can get more people active, learning new skills and improving their wellbeing in Sussex. We’re very grateful for their support and look forward to continuing to work closely together to make a difference for local people.”

The Foundation has been working in partnership with Amex for 12 years, with the opening of the American Express Stadium in 2011 heralding the start of the partnership.

Craig Barclay, Vice President at American Express said “These awards are a celebration of our colleagues and our community. Our colleagues are deeply committed to the local area and we are proud of the impact we have been able to make in our local community through our partnership with the Brighton & Hove Albion Foundation.

“Over the years our colleagues have supported over 23,000 people across Sussex through almost 30,000 hours of volunteering for the charity.”
