Albion teams victorious in pan-disability cup
Two BHAFC Foundation teams lifted trophies at a pan-disability football tournament in London last Sunday (7 July).
We sent three teams of youngsters up to the Pan-Disability Gunnersbury Cup in London, hosted by the Brentford Community Trust.
Two of our teams – the Under-12s and the Under-16s B Team – were victorious and finished in first place in their respective tournaments.
The Under-12s overcame teams representing Fulham and Brentford in their round-robin before winning the final 4-2 to secure the trophy.
Meanwhile, our two Under-16s teams faced competition from the likes of Chelsea, Fulham, Brentford, Norwich, and others.
Both the A Team and the B Team reached the semi-finals, with the B Team coming out on top 1-0 against Norwich in a hard-fought final.
Phil Broom, Disability Football Lead at the BHAFC Foundation, called the tournament an important experience for his young players.
“We had a fantastic time at this tournament. It’s really important for our young people to have that experience of competitive football and the chance to push themselves, and tournaments are great ways to make that happen.
“To see two of our teams win trophies was a proud moment. There’s so much young talent in our disability football programme, and they really showed it at this tournament.
“Thank you to Brentford CST for organising this tournament, our players all really enjoyed themselves.”
