Fans raise £28k for Foundation at Community Matchday

Albion’s Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest yesterday (March 10) was the official BHAFC Foundation community matchday.

The community matchday was the focal point of Blue and White Week – an annual campaign to celebrate the BHAFC Foundation, raise fan awareness of the charity’s work, and collect important funds to allow that work to continue.

During the pre-match warm-up Albion players wore special BHAFC Foundation tees to show their support for the charity.

Albion fans once again got behind the Foundation by donating, visiting the team at the Albion bus, and taking part in fun activities around the Amex Stadium.

Fans who visited the Foundation bus were greeted by special guests Guy Butters and Norman Cook (better known as Fatboy Slim); both big advocates of the charity.

The Foundation team was also on hand with an inflatable goal, a face painting station, and free Albion flags to give out before the match.

Thanks to fan donations, income from a matchday silent auction, and new Community Champion sign-ups, the Foundation raised a tremendous £28,000. This money will all go towards supporting the Foundation’s award-winning work all over Sussex.

A special thanks goes to the Albion players for supporting the cause, to Norman Cook for giving his time, to all of the volunteers who helped make the day a success, and to Brighton & Hove Buses for supplying the trusty Foundation bus.

Matt Dorn, CEO at the BHAFC Foundation, was delighted with how the community matchday went.

“Once again Albion fans have supported the Foundation in their thousands. There were so many fans who took part in our activities, came to see us at the Albion bus, and supported us with a donation.

“I can’t say a big enough thank you to everyone who took the time to engage with us yesterday.

“I hope that Albion fans have come away from the game knowing a little more about what their Foundation does, and that they all feel proud knowing their donations will help us change lives.”
