Matt and Jacob memorial fixture raises over £2k

The annual Jacob Schilt and Matt Grimstone memorial game has raised £2,200 for the Foundation.

A memorial game – the Grimstone & Schilt Cup – takes place every year in honour of Matt and Jacob.

This year’s edition marked 11 years since their passing, and raised £2,208 in total.

The headline fixture between Mile Oak and Worthing United finished 3-1 to the Worthing side – the team that Jacob and Matt played for.

All funds raised from the game will go towards supporting the life-changing community work of the BHAFC Foundation.

The pair had close ties to the Albion, and Matt worked for the club. They received a heartfelt tribute from fans at the Amex Stadium, and shirts bearing their names still hang on the walls of the North Stand concourse.

Albion legend Guy Butters attended the game on behalf of the Foundation and handed out the winners’ trophies at the end of the game.

“It was another great day out and as always it’s so important for us to remember and honour Matt and Jacob,” Guy said.

“We’re very lucky to receive this support every year, and every penny raised will help bring football to people across Sussex.”
